DriveSafe is proud to announce our partnership with Defy Colorado, an organization that helps individuals with criminal backgrounds discover entrepreneurial and career opportunities. Understanding that the road to re-entering society after incarceration is not easy, Defy Colorado’s program helps both men and women, referred to in the program as Entrepreneurs-in-Training (EITs), develop skills that will help them succeed both professionally and personally.
For many individuals, having a drivers license is essential, both in terms of accessing reliable transportation and in leveraging the ability to drive as a way to open up more career opportunities where the skill is required. However, many people who are released from prison re-enter their communities without any financial safety set, and the cost of restoring or earning their licenses often makes it difficult for them to become licensed drivers.
This is why DriveSafe has pledged to donate 20 road tests to EITs who graduate from Defy Colorado’s program. Speaking on why the program resonated with DriveSafe’s mission, CEO Ben Baron stated, “We recognize the challenges individuals face when trying to reintegrate into society after a period of incarceration. We also know how important it can be not only to get a drivers license but also to be able to drive safely and responsibly. We’re honored to do our small part in helping individuals like Nick prepare for their future.”
